Bruno Murciano, Valencia, Spain

Our history

Bruno Murciano was born in 1979 in Caudete de las Fuentes, a town in the interior of Valencia known by its locals as the heart of the Kingdom of Bobal. He spent his childhood learning and training with his family at Asador Cris, where from a very young age he experienced the hospitality industry and became familiar with the local winegrowers, experiencing first-hand everything related to gastronomy and the world of wine.

A Technical Specialist in Hospitality and Tourism from the Costa de Azahar in Castellón, he continued his studies in France and earned a Diploma in Sommellerie from the Toulouse Academy, where he began his international career as a Sommelier, working in prestigious restaurants and hotels in France and England, eventually becoming Chef Sommelier at the historic and renowned Ritz Hotel in London.

In his twenty years of international experience as a Sommelier, Bruno has achieved mentions, trophies and awards, such as Vice-Champion Jeune Sommelier de France, Golden Nose UK, Best Sommelier of Spain 2008 and International Silver Medal in 2009, achieving the recognition and appreciation of his colleagues as a standard-bearer of Spanish sommelier beyond our borders.

In 2010, Bruno made one of his greatest dreams come true: he selected and purchased a magnificent vineyard in his hometown, a 6-hectare estate of century-old bobales with 2 hectares of forest on the northeast slope, christened “Las Brunas.”

Together with his brother Jose Luis, a winemaker by profession, and with the unwavering support of his family and friends, they enjoy their first grape harvest and make their first family wine. "El Sueño de Bruno" is born.

After spending much of his childhood surrounded by food and wine in his parents' family business in Caudete de las Fuentes, José Luis decided to broaden his educational horizons at the Castellón School of Hospitality and Tourism. Later, he decided to further his academic training in a completely different discipline, Civil Engineering, a degree that allows him to have a broader perspective, not only in terms of planning but also in environmental rigor and awareness.

Attracted by the charm of the countryside's nature associated with the vineyard and the alchemy of the process of transforming grapes into wine, José Luis enters the professional world of viticulture and oenology with his brother Bruno, mentor and inspiration, through a shared project that reflects a lifestyle, starting with the Murciano family vineyard in Caudete de las Fuentes.

José Luis has completed training in viticulture and winery in various wine-growing regions such as Rioja and Bierzo, while also completing complementary theoretical training at the Félix Jiménez School of Enology and Viticulture in Requena.

Currently, José Luis is responsible for the Murciano family's viticulture and oenology, applying all his acquired experience, promoting organic agriculture, following biodynamic guidelines, advocating ecological and sustainable viticulture while implementing some of the most advanced methods in vine cultivation, always with the utmost respect for nature.

The vineyards

Discover the Murciano family vineyards through the drone images included on this page. Located inland in Valencia, they are distributed in smallholdings, some of them located within the Hoces del Cabriel Nature Reserve. They currently belong to the protected DOs of Utiel-Requena and Valencia.
The region's winemaking history dates back to the Iberian era, where the sites of the Kelin settlement, located in Caudete de Las Fuentes and Las Pilillas de Requena, date back 3,000 years.

Influenced by a continental Mediterranean climate, each plot enjoys a specific microclimate that sets it apart from the rest. The average altitude is around 950 meters above sea level.

Bruno & Jose Luis have sought out and selected limestone foothills where altitude and south-east orientation prevail, with poor sandy loam and clayey loam soils, seeking freshness in the summer period.

This Bobal has aromas of bright red fruit, raspberry compote and hints of summer pudding, leading to juicy red berry notes on the palate. This wine can be lightly chilled and is great with charcuterie or with roasted pork belly.
