Cantina di Monteforte, Veneto, Italy
We are people united by a passion for the vineyard and its territory.
We were born in March 1952 , when a group of winemakers determined to cooperate for the sustenance of an area, founded the Cantina Sociale di Monteforte d'Alpone .
We have 600 associated wineries and we are located in the eastern part of Verona, on the border with the province of Vicenza.
We have our roots in the main historical denominations of the province of Verona, such as Soave and Valpolicella .
We represent the territory where we were born: lands of volcanic origin, dark with reddish and silvery reflections, simple and hard, which smell of sun-dried earth and traditions.
1952, July 12: laying of the first stone of the Monteforte d'Alpone winery.
1952, September 28: inauguration of the Monteforte d'Alpone winery with 13,000 quintals of grapes at the first delivery.
1959: first bottling plant of the Clivus line.
1976: technological development aimed at winemaking with the closure of the bottling plant.
1980: internal vitrification of the tanks for renovation.
1990-2000: start of the Castellaro and Foscarino projects for the quality of viticulture.
1995: new Cantina di Monteforte wine line.
2010: application of the sexual confusion technique on vineyards.
2018: new bottling plant.
Our territory
Dark earth, white grapes. White earth, black grapes.
Talking about the territory is like talking about home .
Nature has given us a soil composed of basalt of volcanic origin , dark and with the scent of summer.
According to local agricultural systems, winemakers began to plant vines, making Monteforte d'Alpone the municipality with the largest vineyard area in Italy . Soave wine is born here .
In the pinkish white soils of calcareous sediment of the municipality of Montecchia di Crosara, the rocky hills have been transformed into docile red grape vineyards. During veraison they offer an authentic spectacle, in which Valpolicella comes to life .

We recommend it to you, why?
“This is not bitter, it is an Amarone” is what Adelino Lucchese apparently exclaimed when tasting a forgotten barrel of Recioto della Valpolicella. The grapes, harvested on plateaus, are left to dry in the drying rooms for a few months, which helps concentrate the sugars that allow for a wine with a significant alcohol content. The subsequent refinement in wood enriches the wine with elegant nuances, vanilla and aromas of ripe red fruit.
