Baglio Baiata Alagna, Sicilia, Italy
since 1946- Love and passion for wines
The Alagna family from the fine grapes produced in their vineyards, brings the flavor of nature, sun and earth to your glass.
Respect for tradition and love for our work give birth to quality wines that characterize the territory. The cellar, obtained from ancient tuff quarries, is open to all wine lovers.
The winery has been in business for more than 75 years and for its consistency and commitment it has been included in the official register of historic Italian brands of national interest.
Currently the company is equipped for the production and storage of wines that are produced in the vineyards of the area and also carries out the aging and bottling process.
The company has a capacity of 50,000 hectoliters of wine distributed in various types of containers: steel, cement, fiberglass tanks or large wooden barrels. In addition, you can see a wide range of machinery used for the production and refinement of the final product including a large and sophisticated grape pressing system that is necessary for the production of high quality wines.
Since Marsala is one of the main products of the Alagna company, there is a large area for aging wines where you can see a large number of oak barrels in which traditional production systems such as Soleras and the alcoholization of musts are still used.
The company owns approximately 50 hectares of land in various plots in the municipalities of Marsala, Mazara, Trapani and Salemi.
In these areas the vines necessary for the production of its wines are grown: Zibibbo , Nero d'Avola , Grillo, Catarratto, Inzolia and Damaschino.
These are all local grapes that can only be grown in Sicily and that need a particular microclimate that is only found in the province of Trapani. The company uses a mix of traditional and modern techniques for the production of these grapes. The entire production is done trying to minimize the environmental impact and preserve the naturalistic heritage of the area.
