Embankment, Russian River Valley, California
Winemaker Nick Goldschmidt is a walking, breathing encyclopedia of wine knowledge with a wicked sense of humor. Born in New Zealand, his 30-year wine career has taken him all over the the world. As a corporate winemaker, he was the genius behind many award-winning, name brand wines that you’ve probably seen and heard of.
During the 2008 recession, Nick and his wife Yolyn started Goldschmidt Vineyards, a family business which allowed the couple to branch out into several boutique wine projects that had long fascinated them. The Goldschmidts name many of their wines after their daughters. These days Nick splits his time between California and Chile, two regions of the wine world he’s especially passionate about.
