Clos de l'Abbaye - Loire, Bourgueil 2020 (Cabernet Franc)

This Bourgueil holds a fresh mouth with a beautiful volume. It stretches in length with his rangy tannins.

A wine in a fresh style with a tight but fine structure, which offers the greed of a fruit slightly acidulated on red berries.

The Story

Abbaye de Bourgueil, founded in 990 by Emma, Countess of Blois, is an ancient Benedictine abbey with a rich history marked by the cultivation of vines. Over the centuries, figures such as Baudri de Bourgueil and François Rabelais have celebrated the abbey's wines, whose vines gradually invaded the Bourgueil hillsides. In 1828, the nuns of the Congrégation des Sœurs de Saint Martin took over the vineyard, which they cultivated for almost 150 years. Since 1975, the Lorieux family has been working to preserve this historic terroir, managing the estate using organic farming methods since 1997. Le Clos de l'Abbaye, with a surface area of 7 ha, benefits from a unique terroir, with flinty gravel soil, ideal for Cabernet Franc. Today, Jérémy and Faustine Lorieux perpetuate this family tradition to produce a typical Bourgueil wine.
