Lobetia, VT Castilla, Spain

Lobetia gets its name from the Lobetani, an ancient pre-Roman people of Spain, and reflects the tradition and heritage of the land.

Punctum Biodynamic Family Vineyards was founded in 2005 as a family venture by three siblings. Today, more than fifteen years later, it’s a winery dedicated to organic and biodynamic wine with a presence in more than 40 countries across four continents.

Their wines are made from grapes grown in our own vineyards, located in the town of Las Pedroñeras, Cuenca. From the beginning, their main motivation has been to offer the highest quality products, made in a natural and environmentally friendly way. To achieve this, they work in close collaboration with nature, using organic and biodynamic farming techniques that respect the natural cycle of the plants and the ecosystem in general. This way, they obtain unique, high quality wines with an unforgettable flavor.

In the province of Cuenca near central Spain, the vineyard and estate are located in an area where wine culture has been around for decades. It is believed that winemaking originated here in Roman times, and it quickly developed during the medieval period.

They sit in an altitude of 800 meters above sea level, which ensures intense aromas, freshness and deep colors for the wines. The soil, clay-based and rich in limestone, helps retaining water, essential for the health of the vines.

They reap the benefits of a continental-Mediterranean climate, which brings plenty of sunlight hours to the vineyard and ripens the grapes easily. However, during the night the temperature drops and creates a sharp contrast that heightens the aromas and flavors of the wine.

In their continued commitment to the environment, at Punctum Biodynamic Family Vineyards they have started our path towards a Carbon Neutrality Certification. They are improving their energy efficiency and changing production materials and packaging. To offset our carbon footprint, they will be financing forestry projects. As an organic and vegan winery, they have already implemented other sustainability measures: the energy for the facilities comes 100% from renewable sources, and they recycle 100% of the water waste and waterfall for irrigation. They have installed solar panels at the winery for self-consumption. This installation contributes more than 370,420 kWh per year of our total energy consumption, and prevents the emission of 107 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere per year.

LOBETIA SAUVIGNON BLANC

This is a 100% Sauvignon Blanc, made using grapes that are night-harvested, ensuring that they retain their optimal level of freshness and acidity. Although this grape variety has been widely planted, what makes Lobetia's Sauvignon Blanc stand out is its remarkable ability to adapt to the unique climate of Punctum's terroir. This region's temperature fluctuations between day and night facilitate the slow ripening of the grapes, resulting in a complex range of flavors.

TASTING NOTES Beautiful golden hue and a distinct citrus aroma that is accompanied by herbaceous notes. The wine is light-bodied and offers a crispy acidity that accentuates its elegant minerality, which lingers on the palate after each sip.
