Château Aimée, Médoc, Bordeaux, France

Chateau Aimée is a small, quality-driven estate, a far cry from the co-ops and bulk producers that make most of the wines in Bas-Medoc. Owned by Phillippe Reich, Aimée is a vineyard of only some eight acres, on the classic Pyrenean gravels of the Médoc, with vines that average around thirty years old. The wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec Carmenere. Juicy, fragrant, and well structured, it shows fresh black fruits and pepper on the nose, while on the palate there are minerals, plums, and blackberries. Earthy and full-bodied, it is a suitable companion for a wide range of dishes.
