Pascal Lavergne is known by his childhood nickname “Calhou which is a play on the French word ‘caillou’ meaning pebble. When he acquired his 12 hectares of vineyards in a place called «Belair» at St. Gemme, near Monségur in Bordeaux, he looked at the pebbly soil and naturally associated his nickname with the area’s name. Château Calhou Belair wine are created in what he believes to be his image: generous, simple, and friendly. Recognized as a passionate hard-worker, he is also very well known in the region for cattle farming for which he is regularly awarded and as a community activist serving as a council member and Mayor of Monségur. All wines are estate bottled.
